Lochie recalls going absolute delux, whilst going absolutely outback at the El Questro Resort!
El Questro is a working cattle station that started developing as a tourist attraction in 1991. The property is just under a million acres, of which about one third is grazing country.
There are five different accommodation options at El Questro, the most luxurious and expensive being at the Homestead. There can be a maximum of 12 guests staying there at any one time. Each room has air-conditioning, an ensuite and private balcony. The Homestead also has a pool, spa and tennis court and is surrounded by a tropical garden. The resort also has a common lounge area and study.
El Questro has a helicopter to take Homestead guests to some of the most remote places that are inaccessibe by any other means. This service of course, is not included in the room tarrif, however meals and drinks are included.
There are a number of beautiful gorges within driving distance of the Station. El Questro Gorge, Amalia Gorge, Emma Gorge and Moonshine Gorge are all great places to bushwalk. Swimming in the waterholes there is at your own risk as there are crocodiles in the El Questro waters, but Emma Gorge, El Questro Gorge and the thermal pools at Zebedee Springs are all safe swimming pools. There are also many organised trips for fishing, boating, horse riding and mountain biking.
For those of you wishing to visit El Questro and can not afford the Homestead, there is the other option of camping.
